Coverage / Measurements

Tips

  • Apply basing glue generously — granite chippings are heavier than fine sands, so use a good layer of basing glue for strong adhesion
  • Press firmly — use a stiff brush or your finger to press the chippings into wet basing glue to ensure they bond well
  • Shake off excess — tap the base gently and shake off loose material before the glue sets
  • Seal before painting — apply a coat of matt varnish or scenic sealant before drybrushing to lock chippings in place
  • Drybrush for depth — a light drybrush of grey or bone over sealed chippings adds instant realism
  • Layer with finer materials — combine with fine sand or grit around the edges for a natural transition
  • Combine with other Ballast products — mix with Limestone or Slate Chippings for a varied, multi-tonal rocky finish
  • Varnish to protect — seal the finished base with matt varnish to protect during gaming and transport

Instructions for use

  1. Apply a thin layer of adhesive to the surface where you want to apply the Granite Dust Ballast.
  2. Sprinkle the Granite Dust Ballast onto the adhesive.
  3. Allow the adhesive to dry completely.
  4. Once the adhesive is dry, you can add additional details to your scene, such as miniature railway tracks or buildings.
